A test of your golfing skill awaits you.  You will find the Marine Memorial Golf Course a worthy challenge.  Use the course often to improve your own mental & physical fitness.

A round of golf can be a joyful experience, or it can be very frustrating.  Strangely enough, this depends more on your attitude and character than it does your skill.  Therefore, it is important to keep a proper sense of proportion — golf, after all, is a game.

This is YOUR course; please read the local rules, and assist the management in maintaining the highest standards of housekeeping and sportsmanship.

GOLF’S GREATEST LESSON

Forget the past, concentrate on the worthwhile problems as they occur….OPTIMISTICALLY.

Now that’s what I call a quick response…thanks to who ever read my post…. Mike

Bob… It’s been over a month since the folks running the Wednesday blitz have updated the results of who won the most recent blitz.

If folks will simply click on tournaments in the green bar above, they’ll find the blitz results.. I personally think this is a great option and I look forward to seeing the weekly results. This week I asked as to the reason why they were so out of date, Ardie, who had the job of running it on Wednesday, informed me that no one was interested in seeing the results on line, and that few members seemed concerned about it.

IMHO there are many members who use this web site and would like to see the weekly blitz results published. And there may be others who just don’t know how to find the results.

I hope others who read this post will also voice their support for keeping the web site up to date. The same goes for the monthly military league results, the club championship matches, and our other major tournaments.. If you are out of town, or on vacation, and you have access to a computer, it’s easy to stay abreast of what’s happening in the PMGA.

Hopefully, others who read my pitch will also add their opinions and comments here. It wouldn’t hurt if someone from the PMGA executive board talked to who ever is running the show to see why we can’t continue to update the web page. I think many of us would like to read the latest results on line at home and not have to drive in to the golf course to read it off the Mens Club bulletin board.

If others feel as I do, please add your comments, here, or voice them to Ardie, or any of the other volunteers who run the blitz. Nuff said. semper fi…. Mike

Under breaking news it is stated that brianna can help with your swing. Probably need to change that to read something other than brianna.

I would like to have a communication vehicle so that I can post special situations regarding the maintenance of the course directly through your website where memebers can easily access it. I was thinking of a Twitter link maybe? Or, perhaps you can give me a blog spot on your page? Not sure how, but it would facilitate me being able to communicate issues like frost delays, projects, etc., which can have an impact on your rounds…

    Thanks,

    Danny

Any chance of being able to sign up for tee times on the web instead of going to the base and sign up ? Save time and gas !!

results for the 2012 turkey shoot needs to be changed to 2011.

  8. BOB TOWRY says:

Good job on the turkey shoot tournament photo and slideshow. Tried to send the audio with it however could not. Did not get everyone in need to work on that.

  9. BOB TOWRY says:

I like to see up coming events on home page. This tells me that there is something happening and I can go to the section for additional information. Good job.

  10. BOB TOWRY says:

I like the events in Oct and thanksgiving day event however need to include PMGA Turkey shoot as soon as Tornament Chairman gives information prior to all other events.

  11. BOB TOWRY says:

I thought that the write up and pictures were a professional touch to comlpete the Presidents Cup tournament.

  12. BOB TOWRY says:

John, may it be better to run the year end tournament for the military travel league (26 Sept) in behind 17 sept’s Presidents Cup tournament so the the turkeyshoot tournament is the last tournament of the year.

  13. Mike Sullivan says:

John… As we discussed today the first thing that I would do to improve access to the web site is to reprint the current log on line at the bottom of the home page in large print and underline it or make it into a box for all the old farts like me who need to wear glasses. ie. PMGA NEWS & COMMENTS and I would add the following:” to post your comments or suggestions please click on the box comments box and log in. in the leave a reply box.

This may seem a bit simplistic but we have a lot of folks who have bad eyes and are not very computer literate.

I think we all would like to see the results of the Military League matches and the results of the tournaments that we hold quartertly. As we also discussed today, this will require some one on one instruction conducted by you for the guys who run the Mens Club Blitz, Military League Chairman and the Tournament Chairman, so that they know exactly how to transmit their info to you and it ends up on the website in a timely manner.

I also think it would help if we added the PMGA web site address ie, http://pmga.net at the end of the last sentence in your paragraph concerning the election of PMGA officers in case they don’t have the email addresses of the nominating members to submit their names to.

Lastly, concerning the publishing of changes to our Constitution, I concur with Andy’s comments but I would hold off until after the next executive board meeting since I am going to propose some revisions, and make minor changes to the existing articles which we can approve at the quarterly meeting on the 14th of september.

      Mike,
Working on bigger type. Hopefully by morning.

Waiting on input from the guys for the updates.

Putting the web address at the bottom would be a dupe of effort since they would be on the site to be able to read it. I rephrased the last line.

Andy’s comments were merely to help in the setup of the site by having the correct names; i.e., by laws and constitution. Those items are entered as written by the board and currently published. Got it from Secretary.

Your last comment didn’t make sense to me as that info is on the election document already so I did not approve it for post.

  14. Andy Anderson says:

Here are my suggestions, in addition to what we discussed yesterday, to asist in your efforts (which I very much appreciate) to develop the website.
Under “The PMGA” delete the dropdown “Mission Statement”. Add “Constitution” as one and “By Laws” as the 2nd.
Change “Local Knowledge” to “Local Rules”. Delete “PGA Rules”. Add “Distance Measuring Devices”. The dropdown at “Distance Measuring Devices” text: PMGA allows the use of devices that measure or gauge distance only. The use of a device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect a player’s play (e.g., gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.) is not permitted, regardless of whether such an additional function is used, and the penalty for use of such a device is disqualification.

  15. John Pryor says:

As I add things to this site for consideration, you will note that they immediately go to alphabetical order. I am working on a plug-in which will resolve that so we can have proper sequencing of entries.

  16. Gene Barney says:

You might consider posting the results of the Wed Blitz.

    Regards,

    Gene

  17. Bob Ross says:

We are off and running, give us any and all ideas. If you have photos of the course, we can use them! This is the clubs WEB site, so give us your ideas so that we can make this a first class site.

  18. John P. Pryor says:

We are soliciting your input for the new web-site. We have a lot of ideas in mind but want to hear from you all.

    Thanks.
