Subject: Donation to the Camp Pendleton Junior Golf Program
Over the years, the members of the Pendleton Mens Golf Association (PMGA)
have been strong supporters of the Junior Golf Program, held each summer
at the Camp Pendleton Marine Memorial Golf Course . Our members have
contributed both financially and with donations of used golf equipment
for use by the children of our Marine families enrolled in the program.
As you are aware, this wonderful program was conceived, organized and
conducted annually by our late Head Golf Professional, Doug Blanchard
and his staff. Doug wanted the program to be a fun introduction to the
great game of golf for the dependent children of our Marine families,
many of whom, have mothers, or fathers, deployed for long periods of
time while serving in harms way defending our great nation.
Following Dougs passing, the PMGA membership voted to conduct a charity
golf tournament in his honor and the proceeds of this memorial tournament
were to be donated to the Golf Course for the purchase of new sets of
childrens golf clubs. This was our attempt to improve both the quality of
instruction and the enjoyment and participation in the Junior Golf program
for these young kids, many of whom have never used a golf club designed
specifically for their age group. I am happy to report that the tournament
was an overwhelming success due to the generous support of the participants
and the sponsors of the event.
On behalf of our members, please accept this check from the PMGA in the
amount of $3200.00, to be used for the purchase of new sets of golf clubs
for use by the Marine children enrolled in the summer Junior Golf Program.
Sincerely,
Lee Hegberg
President, PMGA
