SCMGL Intro & Info

The Southern California Military League (SCMGL) season is quickly approaching.  The League starts in March, but every team has a bye month and March is ours.

Our season will commence on Tuesday, 3 April 2012, at Sea N Air.

To view our schedule for the entire season, click on Schedule under Military League.  The schedule will also be posted on the bulletin board just inside the PMGA office along with wallet size schedules.  Please take one of these schedules if you are interested in playing in the Military League.

Also, the sign up sheets for the first two matches will be posted before 1 Mar, on the PMGA bulletin board just inside the office.  If you are interested in playing in either of these matches sign up as soon as possible.  If this is the first time you have ever signed up or your e-mail address and/or phone number has changed please make sure that you legibly print this information on the sign up sheet.

Twenty players constitute a full team.  The first 16 players to sign up are guaranteed to play.  My co-captain or I will select the last four players from the remaining names.  Any person not selected as part of the team can still play, but will play as an alternate.

Everyone interested in playing should review the SCMGL Local Rules Addendum, which I have included in this Military League section.  One rule in particular requires that if a putt is conceded the player MUST pick up his ball.  This rule prevents us from playing our small money game for low gross and net, but this does not preclude you from submitting your score to SCGA at the end of the match.

To determine your score on a putt/stroke that your opponent has conceded you must estimate how many strokes it would take to hole your ball.  If you are two feet from the hole you would probably estimate one stroke, but if you are sixty feet away you might estimate 2 to 3 strokes.  These strokes will be added to the strokes you have already taken and will be the score you record for the hole.  You can see how this could be unfair in determining who actually had low gross and net, so we have come up with a more equitable small money game.  Each player will be asked to buy in for $3.00, which will make a $60.00 pot.  The pot will be divided between the three teams with the most team points. The team with the most points will split 50% of the pot, second place will split 30% and third place will split 20%.  Entry in the money game is voluntary and not a requirement to play in the matches.
